White Bud Rare Orchid Oolong Tea (Coming Soon)
Description
High in the mist-covered mountains of Jinzhu Village, 1,000 metres above sea level in Fujian, a White Bud Rare Orchid oolong unlike most others slowly takes shape.
The story of this rare cultivar begins in the eighteenth century during the Qianlong reign, when it was first recognised for its distinctive white downy buds. Nurtured by cool mountain air, drifting mists, and mineral-rich soil, the leaves mature slowly, developing a depth and character unique to their high-altitude home.
This unblended micro-batch harvested in Spring comes from Jiuyuan Tea Farm, where Mr. Wang continues a tradition that favours patience over speed. While most White Bud Rare Orchid oolongs are crafted to preserve their bright floral character, his tea follows a different path. After the leaves are carefully processed, they undergo a seven-day slow roasting, a method unique to his farm. Gentle, continuous warmth gradually transforms the tea, deepening its character and creating a richness that cannot be hurried.
The result is a White Bud Rare Orchid oolong that reveals an entirely different side of the cultivar. Every infusion begins with a deep orchid fragrance, unfolding into a gentle caramelised bitterness and a returning soothing sweetness that lingers well after each sip.
As the final sip fades, a long, resonant sweetness lingers at the back of the mouth, while an elegant cold fragrance quietly reveals itself in the empty cup. It is a subtle reminder of the tea's slow transformation and careful craftsmanship.
