Format 1: Host’s Selection Tea Appreciation (客随主泡) @ $38 per pax
An unscripted, host-curated Gongfu tea journey through diverse terroirs and private stocks.
- Number of tea: 4 (Brewed in Gongfu-style)
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Capacity: Max 4 guests per session (Price indicated is per pax)
- Location: 217C Sumang Walk, 823217
The experience:
Rooted in the Chinese tea table tradition of 客随主泡 (Kè suí zhǔ pào), where guests surrender the menu to the host, this session is an intimate, unhurried exploration of characterful leaves. Expect a balanced, four tea flight designed to expand your palate across diverse processing styles, terroirs, and vintages. The lineup changes regularly based on micro selections, seasonal finds, and rare private stocks, ranging from vibrant high mountain greens to deeply roasted cliff oolongs and aged teas.
Beyond just tasting, we explore the nuances of Gongfu brewing parameters, vessel selection, and water dynamics that bring out the best in each leaf.
What to expect:
- Guided Gongfu Brewing: Watch, sip, and learn as each tea is steeped across multiple infusions to observe how flavor profiles evolve over time.
- Storytelling and Terroir: Deep dive into origin stories, craft traditions, and processing styles behind each featured tea.
- Your Preferred Pace: Highly interactive if you love to chat, ask questions, and geek out over tea. If you prefer quiet space with your companion, the host will simply introduce each tea, serve the steepings, and step back so you can enjoy your conversation uninterrupted.
Who is this for:
- The Curious Explorer: Tea lovers and open minded beginners who want to discover high tier teas without navigating a confusing menu.
- The Mindful Palate: Anyone who appreciates slow living, nuanced craftsmanship, and rich sensory storytelling.
- Social Drinkers: Pairs or small groups looking for a unique, intimate social gathering over great tea.
What this isn’t:
- It is not an à la carte menu or a high tea service. There are no scone pairings, boba, or sweet treats. The focus is purely on the leaf and liquid.
- It is not a rigid lecture. You will not be quizzed; it is a warm, collaborative conversation at a shared table.
Please note:
Both experiences involve frequent handling of boiling water and delicate tea equipment in a private home. To ensure everyone’s safety and a comfortable tasting environment, the session is best suited for adults and older teens. We are unfortunately unable to accommodate young children or pets.
Format 2: ISO3103 Technical Tastings @ $68 per pax
A methodology-driven sensory workshop for curious and analytical palates.
- Number of tea: 6 distinct teas (Evaluated side-by-side)
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Capacity: Max 4 guests per session (Price indicated is per pax)
- Location: 217C Sumang Walk, 823217
The experience:
Strip away the subjective ritual and look at tea through an objective, comparative lens. Utilizing the official ISO 3103 international standardized cupping methodology and specialized flavor wheels, this technical session breaks down how visual appearance, liquor color, wet leaf aroma, and palate dynamics shape the true character of the leaf. You will gain the foundational sensory vocabulary and framework needed to assess, score, and source tea with confidence.
What is ISO 3103?
ISO 3103 is an international standard designed specifically to test tea through deliberate over extraction. By steeping leaves heavily under strict parameters, it forces the tea to reveal both its highest virtues and its rawest flaws. While we use premium, artisan teas for our cupping, this session is not designed for sipping pretty or drinking for pure pleasure. It is a true sensory interrogation made for total tea geeks who want to uncover what is hidden beneath the surface of the leaf.
What to expect:
- Standardized Cupping: Evaluate teas side by side using professional tasting bowls under controlled brewing parameters such as time, weight, and temperature.
- Sensory Mapping: Learn to identify core flavor profiles, defects, body or mouthfeel, and finish using structured flavor wheels.
- Comparative Analysis: Understand how subtle variables, such as pluck quality, oxidation, or roasting levels, drastically alter the final cup.
Who is this for:
- Analytical Palates: Tea enthusiasts, or home brewers wanting to systematically work their senses.
- The Method Driven Learner: Anyone looking for an objective framework to understand why a tea tastes the way it does, beyond simple preference.
- Quality Seekers: Drinkers who want practical skills to spot high quality leaf, evaluate value, and buy better tea independently.
What this isn’t:
- It is not a traditional tea ceremony or relaxing sip session. The goal here is critical evaluation rather than casual relaxation.
- It is not an academic lecture. It is hands-on, highly interactive sensory practice using real industry tools.
Please note:
Both experiences involve frequent handling of boiling water and delicate tea equipment in a private home. To ensure everyone’s safety and a comfortable tasting environment, the session is best suited for adults and older teens. We are unfortunately unable to accommodate young children or pets.
